Dana’s Grip by Mr. Hankey’s Toys: review of a realistic dildo with gripping hands

My first use left me with a fairly clear “oh wow” reaction, but the subsequent attempts proved much more interesting after I adapted my approach. Presentation and packaging

About six months after publishing my reviews of Goliath and Atlas, I am back with Mr. Hankey’s Toys for a new collaboration. This time, the brand sent me two models: Dana’s Grip, which I will be reviewing here, and Peak Prostate Dildo, which will be the subject of the next review.

This new batch mainly allows me to continue the work started with the first collaboration. After discovering Goliath and Atlas, I can now put two more of the brand’s creations to the test and continue exploring the differences in design between its models.

A new batch, six months later

As I explained in my previous reviews, Mr. Hankey’s Toys is one of the brands I have known for several years. The BFG was notably my first purchase from them and the very first model I reviewed on Big Good Dildos.

Since then, several of their creations have joined my collection, including Taintacle and Horse Dildo II. The collaboration with the brand now allows me to take this exploration of their catalog further, with a second batch of products to test.

This time, Dana’s Grip gets things started. The model has a rather different design from Goliath and Atlas, which should provide an opportunity to see how Mr. Hankey’s Toys approaches another type of dildo and, above all, what impact this has during use.

Packaging remains just as simple

For this new batch, the packaging remains identical to what I discovered during the first collaboration. Dana’s Grip comes in thick plastic sealed with a branded sticker. The packaging provides sufficient protection during shipping, and the product arrived without any issues.

As before, this is therefore a very minimalist form of packaging, with no box or dedicated storage bag.

This choice is not really an issue upon delivery, but a storage bag would still be a welcome addition for a sex toy of this size. It would help protect it from dust and make storage between uses easier.

Available sizes, firmness options and configurations

Like most models from Mr. Hankey’s Toys, Dana’s Grip is available in several sizes and silicone densities. The principle is straightforward: keep the same design while allowing the volume, weight, and behavior of the material to be adjusted according to each user’s experience and preferences.

This system allows the brand to offer the same model at different levels of experience while maintaining the visual identity and overall proportions of the design.

Four sizes for different levels of experience

Dana’s Grip is currently available in four different sizes. Although the shape remains the same, each version noticeably changes the dildo’s overall presence and level of difficulty.

The model is available in the following sizes:

• Small/Med – The most accessible version of the model, allowing you to discover Dana’s Grip’s design with a more manageable volume.
• Med/LG – An intermediate size that starts to provide more substantial presence while remaining relatively accessible.

This range of sizes makes it possible to choose a version suited to your level of experience while retaining the distinctive aesthetics and proportions of Dana’s Grip. The XXXL version is the one I chose for this review.

Several silicone densities to adjust the experience

Like the brand’s other products, Dana’s Grip can be cast in several silicone firmness levels, which directly affect its rigidity and how the dildo behaves under pressure:

• 40% Soft – A very soft silicone with plenty of flexibility.
• 75% Soft – A balance between softness and support, often considered the most versatile density.
• Med Firm – A firmer option with a more direct feel.
• Extra Firm – The most rigid version, maximizing the dildo’s support and structural stability.

With the larger sizes, the choice of firmness can have a significant impact on the overall experience, particularly in terms of control and rigidity.

Availability spread across several retailers

At the time of writing this review, Dana’s Grip is available from several retailers, with most sizes offered depending on the individual stores and their current stock.

However, the choice is much more limited when it comes to the available variants. The models currently found at retailers are generally offered in a single combination: Flesh color and 75% Soft density.

Since availability can vary from one retailer to another, some sizes may be temporarily out of stock while others remain available elsewhere. It is therefore possible to find most of the range, but you may need to check several stores to find the size you are looking for.

Design and construction of Dana’s Grip

The design was clearly the main reason I chose Dana’s Grip. As soon as I discovered the model, I was intrigued by the idea of hands that appear to literally grip the dildo. The whole piece has something rather unusual about it at first glance, with a slightly shiver-inducing quality that immediately made me want to take a closer look.

And honestly, once I had the model in hand, I was far from disappointed. Dana’s Grip is a particularly detailed piece, with a level of sculpting that makes it one of the most visually interesting models I have tested from Mr. Hankey’s Toys. The sculpting is clearly at the heart of its identity, and the result deserves a closer look.

An impressive level of detail, right down to the hands

Dana’s Grip immediately stands out for its highly detailed sculpting. The surface is far from uniform, with numerous folds, irregularities, and other details that give the whole piece a particularly organic appearance.

The work on the skin is particularly successful. Different areas of the model feature variations in texture and relief that completely avoid the impression of a simple molded dildo with a few decorative elements added on top.

But it is obviously the sculpted hands around the model that immediately draw the eye. The fingers, joints, and various skin folds are particularly detailed, with a level of precision that gives them a strong presence. Their integration into the overall design is also very well executed: they genuinely seem to be part of the sculpture rather than simply having been added onto the shaft.

This is probably what struck me most when I first discovered the model. The concept is already original on paper, but the quality of the detailing is what really makes it work.

The work on the upper section and glans also deserves a mention, with numerous folds that reinforce this impression of organic material. The whole piece is visually rich without becoming confusing.

For a model like this, the design is clearly an important part of the experience. And on that point, I think the designer’s work is particularly successful. Dana’s Grip has a genuine personality and immediately stands apart from the majority of more conventional models.

An unusual construction that also affects its stability

The construction of Dana’s Grip is obviously very different from that of a conventional realistic dildo. Its overall silhouette is not perfectly straight, and the various sculpted elements around the shaft noticeably alter its profile.

The upper section retains a fairly substantial shape, with a heavily detailed glans and several folds extending onto the beginning of the shaft. Further down, the sculpture gradually becomes more complex, with the different volumes coming together to distort the dildo’s overall silhouette.

This construction gives the model a very distinctive shape that changes significantly depending on the angle from which it is viewed. From the front, the sculpting immediately stands out, while the side views make it easier to appreciate the different volumes and how they integrate into the body of the model.

The base is much simpler and wide enough to allow the dildo to stand upright. However, it is not always easy to keep Dana’s Grip perfectly straight. The structure is not completely linear, and the various sculpted volumes around the shaft shift the center of gravity somewhat. As a result, the model can tip over and fall, rather than simply leaning to one side.

I managed to find a position that was stable enough for photos, but this is not always the case, and I still haven’t completely figured out how to position the model so that it remains upright without the risk of falling. This is not necessarily a flaw in the product, but it is clearly a characteristic of its unusual construction that needs to be taken into account.

A particularly successful pearlescent white

For the color, I made a rather unusual choice: white, with the option that adds a subtle metallic effect.

White is ultimately a color you see fairly rarely on dildos, regardless of the manufacturer. Perhaps because it can seem too simple or basic at first glance. As a reviewer, however, I feel less pressure when choosing a color, so I decided to give it a try.

And the result pleasantly surprised me. Mr. Hankey’s Toys’ white has a subtle pearlescent appearance, probably due to the metallic effect, which gives it considerably more depth than a perfectly uniform white. Depending on the lighting, the appearance can also vary quite significantly, making the color particularly difficult to reproduce accurately in photographs.

I therefore made a few minor adjustments to the photo below to make it look as close as possible to what I actually see. There is still a yellow cast caused by the lighting used when taking the photo, but it nevertheless gives a fairly good idea of the result.

Personally, I really like this pearlescent white. It highlights the many sculpted details particularly well and gives the model a rather different appearance from what you would get with a more conventional color.

So for me, opening the package brought a double pleasant surprise: the design I chose for its originality really delivers on its promise, and the white with metallic effect turned out to be much more successful than I had expected. And although I remain particularly attached to the Blood Red of my Horse Dildo II, this white from Mr. Hankey’s Toys has clearly earned a place among my favorite colors.

Sensations and experience during use

With Dana’s Grip, the experience is quite different from that of a conventional dildo. The model is clearly not intended for beginners, but more importantly, you should not expect a smooth and consistent progression. Although the surface of the dildo is generally smooth, the presence of the hands, and especially the rigidity of their fingers, creates several very distinct stages.

This is actually a model that made me say “oh wow” during my first use. Yet after several uses, my opinion changed. I gained a better understanding of how to approach the model and how to work with its progression, and I ultimately found it much more enjoyable to use.

A progression in stages

The beginning of Dana’s Grip is fairly conventional. Until reaching the first hand, the passage remains relatively easy and progressive, since this part of the model simply corresponds to the upper part of the penis. The progression therefore feels quite familiar before Dana’s Grip’s unusual design really starts to make itself felt.

Then the first hand arrives, and the change is immediate. The fingers are particularly noticeable during use, and their rigidity clearly marks the transition. It is not really the surface texture that creates the difficulty, but rather the volumes formed by the fingers, which require you to overcome several successive obstacles.

With some hindsight, this rigidity is actually quite consistent with the design. Real fingers are naturally rigid, particularly because of their bone structure, and reproducing this characteristic in the sculpture ultimately reinforces the realism of the model. What may seem unusual during the first passage therefore makes quite a lot of sense when considering the level of realism the designer was aiming for.

Progression therefore happens in stages, mainly marked by the different hands, but also by slight changes in direction. The pressure exerted by the fingers on the body of the dildo slightly changes its orientation and requires you to follow these variations. This is probably where much of the “Grip” in the model’s name comes from: the hands are not simply there for visual effect, they genuinely create the impression of gripping the penis and influence its progression.

The widest passage is at the level of the first hand, particularly around its final fingers. This is where progression becomes genuinely demanding.

Once the first hand has been passed, the second arrives fairly quickly. It is narrower and therefore less difficult to get through, but it is still very noticeable. At this point, the difficulty also comes from the length already traversed and the pressure that has built up throughout the progression.

A model that requires adapting to its construction

Dana’s Grip requires more adaptation than a conventional dildo, particularly because the first hand does not necessarily need to be passed in the same way as the rest of the model. To make this stage easier, using a dildo of similar size or slightly larger beforehand can genuinely help prepare the body for the passage of the hand.

This is actually what helped me during my second attempt. After a first experience with Dana’s Grip that had left me rather perplexed, I changed my approach, and Atlas clearly helped me prepare for the passage of the first hand. It is a good example of how, with this type of model, you sometimes need to accept that you have to adapt your method rather than simply keep trying the same approach.

You also need to be prepared to move and slightly change position during use. The hands do not follow a perfectly straight axis, and the various changes in direction they create can be easier to negotiate by adjusting your own positioning.

The stability of the model unfortunately does not always make things easier. As I explained earlier, Dana’s Grip does not easily remain perfectly upright when placed on its base. And when vertical force is applied to accompany progression, its structure can tend to wobble, meaning the dildo needs to be held properly in place.

This adds another difficulty to the experience, particularly when trying to progress slowly and precisely. You therefore need to adapt not only to the model itself, but also find a sufficiently stable position to prevent the dildo from moving when pressure is applied.

An experience that gets easier to appreciate over time

This is probably what surprised me most about Dana’s Grip. My first impression was not the best, with that familiar “oh wow” reaction immediately coming to mind when faced with the resistance of the first hand.

But the subsequent uses were noticeably different. Once I understood the model’s progression better and took more time to adapt to its different stages, I started to appreciate the experience much more.

Patience plays an important role here, but I would clearly advise against trying to force your way through. The rigidity of the fingers can become quite uncomfortable when you insist despite your body not being ready to move on to the next stage. It is better to take your time, adjust your position, and change your approach if necessary rather than turn the passage into a struggle against the model.

Ultimately, that sums up my experience with Dana’s Grip quite well: sometimes you need to change your approach to fully appreciate the model. My second attempt, particularly thanks to better preparation with Atlas, allowed me to understand how it works much better and to appreciate more fully what makes it so distinctive.

Dana’s Grip is clearly not a model I would recommend to someone who is just getting started with large dildos, nor to anyone primarily looking for perfectly smooth progression. Its defining feature is precisely these different stages and the way the hands progressively alter the sensation.

Ultimately, the experience is quite faithful to the design: unusual, progressive, and particularly shaped by the hands. And contrary to my first impression, I ultimately found that this construction provided a genuinely interesting experience once I understood how to approach it.

Usage and care tips

Insertion and lubrication: take the time to adapt

Given the size of the model and, above all, the difficulty created by the first hand, proper preparation is essential. The beginning of the dildo remains fairly conventional, but progression becomes significantly more demanding once the fingers come into play.

A few simple principles can help make the experience easier:

• use plenty of water-based lubricant
• warm up with a dildo of similar size or slightly larger before attempting Dana’s Grip
• take particular care to prepare for the passage of the first hand
• favor slow and progressive movements, without trying to force your way through
• adapt your position to follow the changes in direction of the model
• accept partial insertion if the passage becomes too difficult or uncomfortable

In my case, a larger dildo clearly helped during my second attempt, and Atlas proved particularly useful for preparing for the passage of the first hand. This also helped me better understand Dana’s Grip: sometimes you need to change your method rather than simply trying to reproduce exactly the same movement.

The stability of the model is also worth taking into account. Dana’s Grip does not always remain easily upright and can tip over when vertical force is applied. You therefore need to find a sufficiently stable position to prevent the dildo from moving or falling during use.

Cleaning and storage: paying particular attention to the details

Like the other silicone models from Mr. Hankey’s Toys, Dana’s Grip can simply be cleaned with warm water and mild soap.

However, cleaning it takes a little more time than with a conventional dildo. The issue is not really the material itself, but rather the amount of detail present on the model. The fingers, skin folds, and various sculpted elements create many more small areas that need to be cleaned carefully.

You therefore need to take the time to clean the entire dildo properly, particularly between the fingers and inside the various folds. A quick rinse may not be enough to remove all the residue caught in the details of the sculpture.

For storage, a few precautions are still useful:

• avoid prolonged contact with incompatible materials (PVC, TPE, jelly…)
• keep the dildo in a breathable fabric bag to limit dust and lint
• allow for enough storage space, particularly because of its unusual shape

As with the other models from this collaboration, no storage bag is included with Dana’s Grip. A dedicated pouch would therefore be particularly useful for protecting the silicone and preventing the many sculpted details from collecting dust and other particles during storage.

My review of Dana’s Grip

Dana’s Grip is a model that stood out to me above all for its design and its very different approach from what Mr. Hankey’s Toys usually offers. Where some models focus primarily on diameter, this one builds much of its identity around its sculpting and the hands that genuinely alter the experience.

Visually, this is probably one of the model’s strongest points. The level of detail is impressive, particularly around the hands, fingers, and numerous skin folds. In use, this unusual construction is immediately noticeable. The beginning remains relatively accessible, but the first hand is a genuine obstacle. The rigidity of the fingers has a strong impact on progression and requires more preparation than a conventional dildo. The second hand is less difficult to get through, but it comes after a significant portion of the model has already been traversed, which inevitably increases the pressure felt.

This is also a model that requires a certain ability to adapt. The slight changes in direction caused by the hands require you to adjust your position and the way you approach the progression. Ultimately, Dana’s Grip is a model that I find much more interesting after several uses than I did during my first attempt. Its design is not simply aesthetic: the hands genuinely influence progression and give the model an experience that is very different from that of a conventional dildo.

This is clearly not a model I would recommend to beginners, nor to anyone primarily looking for perfectly smooth progression. However, for someone who appreciates highly detailed realistic dildos and wants to discover a genuinely different design, Dana’s Grip is certainly worth taking a closer look at.
