“Before that point, 3D scanning was pretty tedious. It was a tabletop affair that required everything but the item being scanned was stationary, so we could only really scan positives of existing models. Our original alginate casts were very precise in a lot of ways, but any errors in the casting process required hand-sculpting to fix, and some just couldn’t be very easily.”

With the new tool, everything became smoother: the scanner captures shapes without contact in just a few seconds, generates digital files ready to work with, and allows the 3D designer to make corrections based on reference photos. “Our 3D artist can fix any minor discrepancies based off of photos we get at the same time, which is a ton faster than doing it by hand.”

The move to 3D printing also reinforced this shift. Large models can now be printed in a single session, while plastic printers create the support shells for the molds at the same time. “The larger resin printer has really changed the game. What used to take weeks has been shortened considerably.”

This technological shift hasn’t erased the brand’s artisanal DNA, but it has clearly boosted production capacity and the precision of the models. It’s a deliberate mix of science, design, and responsiveness.

Some submissions arrive almost ready to go, like the Hippocampus: “That was fully sketched with multiple angles, our 3D sculptor just had to transfer it from the page to the mesh.” Some start as simpler ideas — “Others, like the Shoggoth, were just a basic sketch idea that was passed along and further developed in-house.”

By staying open to outside creativity, Exotic-Erotics strengthens its connection with its audience — and keeps pushing its designs in unexpected directions.

Small team, big reactivity: inside Exotic-Erotics’ daily operations

Behind Exotic-Erotics, there’s no automated factory line or oversized team. The brand runs with a small structure, built to remain agile without compromising on quality. Every toy is made to order in a semi-artisanal process where custom tools, versatility, and organization are key. Orders are batched based on model type and color, allowing the team to optimize each step. “Whenever possible we combine the newest orders with older ones on the board,” they explain — a method that balances efficiency with customization.

From order to shipping: a precise logistics chain

At Exotic-Erotics, every order follows a carefully structured workflow, balancing personalization and efficiency. The standard production lead time is 12 to 14 business days, with shipping time depending on the customer’s chosen method.

Once payment clears, their system moves the order into the manufacturing queue — usually instantly. “We allow 24 hours for cancellation or changes before adding it to the production board. It’s pretty common for someone to want to change a firmness or add a suction cup.”

Production is organized by batch when possible to optimize time and material use. “Most orders won’t take the full 12–14 business days… If you order an equine Natural Markings, you can be sure you won’t have to wait long, because they’re always being ordered.” More complex finishes, like hand-painted colors, can take longer. “Those colors are ordered less frequently and are handled in a standard first-come first served basis.”

Once poured, toys are demolded the next day, then inspected, cleaned, and prepared for shipment. “We lay all of the items out in order with their invoice, and then have someone else double (and sometimes triple) check the orders before packaging.” Orders are then labeled and picked up the following morning.

This streamlined yet detailed approach reflects their commitment to quality control, flexibility, and a handcrafted standard, even as a small team.

Reaching international customers

For European buyers, ordering from Exotic-Erotics often comes with extra costs — shipping fees, import taxes, and longer delivery times. The team is well aware of the issue and offers a partial workaround.

“Currently, you can find a small selection of our toys at YiffyToys.de, and you can contact them about special ordering an item with our regularly available options through them.” These orders are added to the store’s next bulk shipment — “there will be a delay when ordering this way.” Still, it’s not always a cost-saving solution: “In practice, the difference in cost is usually less than a dollar.”

A UK production line was once in the works, but “we had to put that on hold when Brexit passed.” As for manufacturing within the EU, “we’d love to have some EU production in the future,” they say — but for now, direct orders remain the fastest and most reliable option.
